Seat Reservation (Communal Reservation)

  • Applicants should know that the rules for communal reservation framed by the Government of Kerala and it implemented by the University.
  • Government of Kerala and universities change seat reservation  rules for various academic programmes time to time
  • Only candidates from ‘Socially and Educationally Backward Communities (SEBC) are eligible for Kerala State communal reservation.
  • Kerala State communal reservation will be considered for seats earmarked for such communities, provided, the eligibility for such reservation shall be subject to satisfactory verification of relevant Community as well as Annual Family Income certificates issued by competent revenue authorities as prescribed by the rules of the University in force.

Percentage wise Reservation Details

(Non-Professional Programmes)

  • For SC/ST candidates 20% seats are reserved.
  • Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC)
  • Applicants of Ezhava / Thiyya / Billava (ETB) 8% seats are reserved.
  • For Muslim (MSM) candidates 7% seats are reserved.
  • LCC / SIUC candidates will get 1% of seat.
  • For Other Backward Christian (OBX) reserved seats 1%
  • Seats for Other Backward Hindu (OBH) is 3%
  • Total for SC/ST and SEBC 40 % seats.
  • For Economically Backward Class among Forwarding Caste (BGN) (Supernumerary) 7.5%.

Seat Reservation (Communal Reservation) for Professional Programmes

  • Applicants of Scheduled Cast 8% seats are reserved.
  • The candidates who belong to Scheduled Tribe 2% seats are reserved.
  • Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC)
  • Ezhava / Thiyya / Billava (ETB) have 9% seats.
  • Muslim (MSM) has 8% seats.
  • Other Backward Hindu (OBH) has 3% seats.
  • Latin Catholic including Anglo-Indian has 3% seats.
  • Other Backward Christian (OBX) 1% seats.
  • Dheevara2% Viswakarma 2% seats.
  • Pot-making castes 1%
  • Kudumbi candidates have 1% seats.
  • Total for SC/ST and SEBC 40% seats are reserved.

Note: candidates who belong to KSC/KST are also eligible for admission.

  • If they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination except for Marine Engineering.
  • They can opt for All India Merit category.
  • They are not required to make any payments (except their common fee payable).
  • Once they get admission under this category. They will have to produce original Community Certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent revenue authorities at the time of Group Discussion and/or Interview / Counselling / Admission, whichever is held earlier.

Community Certificate and Annual family Income Certificate

  • Community Certificate and Annual family Income Certificate are to be issued by the Village Officer concerned for (SEBC).
  • Candidates belonging to the state of Kerala and by the Tahsildar concerned for KSC/KST candidates belonging to the State of Kerala for claiming admission under respective “Reservation” category.
  • Applicants should also know that in the case of evening courses SC/ST candidates are also required to remit the full fees.
  • Note: Candidates who are natives of states other than Kerala are not eligible for communal reservation.
